Originally from Canada, Al Whitley was raised in Victoria, British Columbia, and attended the University of New Brunswick on a basketball scholarship before transferring to Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminology and sociology.
In May 2014, Whitley completed his term as President of the NBAEMA (National Basketball Athletic Equipment Managers Association), a League-wide association that strives to promote, advance and improve the equipment managers profession in all of its many facets. Currently, he sits on its advisory board.
Future ambitions for Whitley include front-office sports management.
He and his wife, Priscilla, have two daughters, Koi and Kenzi.
